Strategy 1:  Excellence in research with global and social impact

Objective Strategic plan
  1. To produce research results to inform policy and meet the needs of Thai society;
  2. To produce quality research that meets international standards;
  3. To produce research results which contribute original findings to the international literature.
  1. Recruit and retain high quality researchers and maintain ethics in research;
  2. Create a process of learning and capacity building of all levels of researchers on a continuous basis;
  3. Promote investigation of research issues using a    research cluster approach to address policy and needs of society;
  4. Promote collaboration in research through the network of partners in the public, private, and Civil Society sectors, and the donor community, and engage in international exchange programs of researchers;
  5. Create a management system to support and supply information on domestic and international sources of research funding in the public and private sector;
  6. Create a support system for printing results of research for domestic and international distribution.

Strategy 2:  Excellence in outcome-based education for globally-competent graduates

Objective Strategic plan
  1. 1.To create leading curricula which meet international standards and highlight the success of student learning;
  2. To produce graduates who can continue to build their capacity in academics, integrity, and ethical skills to serve as change agents for benefit of the society at-large;
  3. Promote academic relationships between current students and alumni to improve IPSR and generate a sense of pride in being part of IPSR and Mahidol University.
  1. Develop curricula that are tailored to the job market and needs of the students;
  2. Integrate ethics into course content and student activities;
  3. Provide opportunities for students to gain international experience (e.g., present study findings at national and international forums; conduct collaborative research with international experts);
  4. Offer bachelor’s level courses to expand access to the teaching of demography and sociology;
  5. Build capacity of faculty through team teaching, teacher assistantships, research project-based teaching, and international exchange programs for students and faculty;
  6. Promote academic and social activities with alumni
  7. Create mechanisms to maintain contact with alumni

Strategy 3:  Excellence in professional services and social engagement

Objective Strategic plan
  1. To promote excellence in academic management to meet international standards;
  2. To produce results to advance quality of life development based on needs of society through interactive participation, especially in the health area.
  1. Enable students and faculty to build their capacity in particular areas of research interest and through team work;
  2. Build capacity in academics and technical services under the framework of the WHO Collaboration Centre for Research in Human Reproduction;
  3. Develop IPSR into a leading institution in the area of research methodology and research tools, with a concentration in demography and evaluation research through a Collaboration Center for Monitoring & Evaluation;
  4. Promote participation of the community in IPSR field projects on a continuous basis, and ensure benefits for the community (e.g., villages in the demographic surveillance system in Kanchanaburi);
  5. Promote collaboration among entities within and outside IPSR to create multi-disciplinary technical services;
  6. Develop networks with technical services clients.  

Strategy 4:  Excellence in management for a sustainable organization

Objective Strategic plan
  1. To promote preparedness of human resources for both qualitative and quantitative implementation;
  2. To achieve financial stability and adequate funding for implementation and future development;
  3. To create an information and communication technology system to support efficiency and effectiveness of implementation;
  4. To create a system for quality control to ensure that IPSR achieves excellence and sustainability;
  5. To create an outstanding image of IPSR in the international community.
  1. Develop human resources planning, development, and evaluation, and promote an appropriate work-life balance;
  2. Develop a financial and accounting system to support efficient and sustainable  implementation;
  3. Analyze the capital costs of core and projected activities to create a “green office” at a gold-medal standard;
  4. Develop the DIPSRA database so that it meets the needs of faculty, students and staff, and as the basis for performance agreements;
  5. Provide opportunities for involvement in the EdPEx as a tool for quality control, and append quality control measures to the routine work;
  6. Participate in relevant forums and collaborate with partners in population and social development at the global level;
  7. Encourage faculty and students to share opinions through various communication channels to publicize results of IPSR work;
  8. Use a variety of communication and media channels to publicize IPSR accomplishments.
